Description

It can be easily put on the horse and adjusted around the shoulder and girth to achieve an ideal fit. The neck straps of this martingale are connected by leather forming what is called a “bib”, which helps to hold the rider’s reins together and prevent the horse from reaching back and grabbing the neck straps.

Why use a bib martingale?

A bib martingale works the same way as a traditional martingale. The addition of a bib allows the reins to be brought together and prevents the horse from catching the neck strap in its mouth. It can be used to prevent a horse from lifting its head above a point where it can be controlled. When the horse lifts its head too high, the martingale provides leverage on the bit through the reins, encouraging the horse to lower its head.

Care instructions

To maximize the life of your martingale and avoid stains, we strongly recommend that you care for the leather after each use.
1. Use warm water on a damp cloth or soft sponge to gently remove dust, dirt and grease from the surface. Be sure to focus on the areas around the buckles and the main points of contact with your horse.

2. We recommend conditioning the leather with a soap/cream sparingly, taking care to rub gently and in a circular motion until all product has been absorbed.
3. Using a clean cloth, wipe excess soap/cream from the surface.

4. Allow the leather to dry naturally in a well-ventilated area, away from any direct heat source.
